The History of Land Rover
The birth of the Land Rover was in September of 1947 when brothers Spencer and Maurice Wilks put forward the Land Rover project to the board of directors at Rover Car. The first Land Rover was designed in the United Kingdom; the prototype was built upon on a Jeep chassis and named the 80” (taken from its wheel-base) although Land Rovers didn’t make a public appearance until April 1948. The Rover company starting its life producing cycles.
Rover Company Limited
(1906-1936)
The Rover company stops making cycles and begins producing prestige cars.
Rover War effort
(1937-1945)
The Rover factories produce various parts for war vehicles including tank and aircraft engines.

Les Potts has just taken delivery from SPX of a set of Land Rover dealer standard special tools. Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive Ltd is the only Land Rover independent service centre in the UK to have a complete and up to date set of Land Rover special tools.
Les Potts 4 Wheel Drive have been busy in February 2007 preparing vehicles for the 07 plate launch on the 1st March 2007. We pride ourselves in the preparation of vehicles to an individual’s specification from specialist vehicle preparation to fitting a set of side runners, we can accommodate all your needs.

Les Potts Four Wheel Drive became the first independent service centre in the UK to have all their technicians trained on the All-New Freelander 2. The PDI course is an introduction to the new Freelander and all the training was carried out at The Land Rover Technical Academy based at Gaydon, Warwickshire.
